Kendal’s Story

Site created on January 14, 2022

Early Monday morning January 10th Kendal ended up in the Emergency Room in Fargo for lower abdomen pain. After numerous tests and scans it was determined Kendal has Malignant Germ Cell Cancer. Kendal will continue his fight at the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo. Him and his wife Melody were able to return home Thursday January 13th. Kendal will be getting his port put in Monday January 17th and start his chemotherapy treatment Tuesday January 18th where he will be in Fargo receiving chemotherapy for 5 days. Each week after that will consist of 1 chemotherapy treatment for two weeks and then he will go back for a 5 day session and repeat the cycle. It is unknown how many rounds of chemotherapy Kendal will need at this time.

Kendal is a husband and father of a beautiful little girl,Bristol, who is 7 months old. This site was created to keep all family and friends informed as we know there are so many who care. All they ask for are prayers. We as his family have no doubt Kendal will kick cancers butt!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Sarah Martenson

It’s been 2 months since the last update! Over the past 2 months Kendal waited anxiously for his scan to reveal if his chemotherapy worked. In the mean time he started his recovery and healing process, was able to return to work, and spent some extra time catching up on snuggles with Bristol! On Tuesday May 17th Kendal completed his CT scan which revealed the spot in his lung is completely gone and the two spots in his back have significantly decreased in size. Doctors currently are not worried about the two spots in his back because they said it could just be scarring from the chemotherapy. Doctors will continue to monitor those spots and do another scan again in 3 months.

Kendal and Melody would like to send out a huge thank you to anyone and everyone that was involved or participated in the the “fun run ranger ride”, “fighting for Kendal” bracelets, and to everyone who has ever sent prayers, kind words, gifts, or meals their way ❤️
