Journal
Yesterday marked 2 weeks since Ken's surgery - in many ways it seems forever ago and in other ways, it's crazy that two weeks have already passed.
Ken started Cardio Rehab yesterday. The facility is part of the International Heart Institute and is located at St. Patrick's Medical Center. When he does his workouts he will be hooked up to a heart monitor - gives him some peace of mind that he's not overdoing it and he gets feedback if he can increase the intensity. In addition to that workout, he has been going to The Peak and walking on their indoor track. This cold weather and snow make it difficult to get outside to exercise so we are thankful for those opportunities.
Ken is progressing well - good days and bad days especially with his physical stamina. All that is normal - he is still doing a lot of healing. The extreme fatigue phase has passed and with it his mental outlook has improved considerably. Now he is itching to start driving so that he doesn't have to rely on me or friends to get him places. I think he wants some of his independence back!
He has a doctor's appointment this afternoon with his general practitioner. Blood work, sternal wound review, and general health will all be reviewed -we have a few questions about some of the side effects of the drugs but really we aren't expecting much out of the ordinary from this visit.
Thank you all for your continued good thoughts and for reaching out to Ken with phone calls and texts. It means so much to both of us!
