Kelly’s Story

Site created on March 20, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Here's a little information to keep you updated about our dad as he battles Stage 4 Melanoma that has spread to his lungs. He's in a good amount of pain and breathing isn't easy, so we appreciate your prayers for his healing and comfort.

As of 3/29, he's still not met with his main oncologist who will tell us the treatment options and other details.

                                           -                        Background                     -

Throughout January and February, Kelly had a bad cough that the doctors initially thought was pneumonia.  He took 3 different rounds of antibiotics in late Feb-March but since things didn't clear up, he asked the doctors to take another look.   On  March 13, he was admitted to Regions where they drained several liters of fluid from his lungs.  On Wed. March 16, we found out he has Stage 4 Melanoma and that his previous melanoma had metastasized to his lungs. He spent 12 days in the hospital for initial treatment and received a lung transfusion surgery which slightly reduced the fluid build-up.

Mom & Dad have always said they'd be jealous of whoever outlived the other because that person would finally get to enjoy life! Kidding aside, the 5 of us kids, our mom, and his 7 grandkids would like a lot more time with him, so please join us in praying for a miracle.
