Hello Everyone,

Maybe the last post about our gal Kelley?

Kel is now home!!!  I picked her up around noon today, one day ahead of the original timeline.  She tires very easily, so we will be taking it real slow for a while.  The boys and the dogs are beyond excited to have their mom home.

I just made her some Annie’s mac and cheese and she is thrilled to eat tasty food again (for those keeping score at home- white cheddar shells).

There is a 10 inch incision from the top of her head to the back.  She does not want me to post a picture of that, and I have to agree with her.  It will heal up nicely and her hair will pretty much hide it from view.

So, the road ahead:

-Left side numbness is still a concern, we just have to hope it gets better over time.

-Pain and nausea, we have drugs that can help that a bit.

-Stitches will come out in 10 days.

-She is on anti-seizure meds, possibly up to a year.

-It will be 4-6 weeks before going back to work.

-She needs to stay off screens for a few weeks.

-No driving for 3 months.

-No alcohol for 3 MONTHS! I made sure to verify if red wine counts as alcohol, and yes, it does.  I will probably be stocking up on Malbec anyway in anticipation.

We have said it before, but it deserves to be said again- we truly appreciate the love and support you all have shown towards our family.  Kelley told me everyday how wonderful it was to hear from you all and how much it helped her stay positive throughout the whole ordeal.

Final parting quote from Kelley as she settles into her chair in front of the warm fireplace:

“I am gonna be ready to party come summertime.”

Aren’t we all.
