Kellan’s Story

Site created on April 25, 2022

Kellan is 7 years old with the biggest heart for his family, freedom and his Faith. Kellan has grown over the years into the most sweet, selfless and loving 7 year olds one could have the honor of knowing.

Kellan went in for an appendectomy on Friday April 15th and complications led to his body turning septic where he was rushed to Rapid City Pediatric ICU where he eventually became unresponsive and started showing signs of early organ failure. They were life flighted to Omaha children's hospital where they are receiving world class medical help to help stabilize him for the time being, he is still in a coma and the fight of his life. This page will help serve for updates and a place where we can further help the Alfstad/Hampton families.

One step closer to H♥️ME! We escaped the hospital today and are settling into the Madonna House to get our work on 🦾. So grateful, so proud, so many feelings, and so many little pieces of hearts that Kellan captured during his 91 day in-patient stay. I’m short on words today without the tears flowing and just can’t believe we’re here at this next step. I’m reminded of the days when we arrived, by all the doctors and nurses that came to bid us farewell who have followed Kellan’s miracle from the beginning. The same people who saved his life 13 weeks ago as I sat in shock and watched, are now full of congratulations and wonder. We’ve tearfully embraced for 3 months, but today, it was for pure joy. This boy’s journey continues🙏🏻

Thank you to Omaha Children’s for providing top notch specialists, nurses, support staff, and facilities to save Kellan’s life and many others’ daily. Your work and sincere love is truly inspirational. We are forever grateful.
