In December 2022 Keely was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer, MDS.  MDS is a myelodysplastic syndrome.  It is part of a group of cancers in which immature blood cells in the bone marrow do not mature or become healthy blood cells.  MDS can impact red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.  In Keely's case her red blood cells are not maturing and the count is low, this means she is often tired.  Her platelet levels are low which leads to poor clotting  ability.  But, her white blood cell levels are normal.  This is good news since it means that her immune system is still working well.

Home sweet home!  Got home a couple of days ago and it feels great.  I'm very slowly gaining strength back and trying to find foods that taste good but being home makes those tasks so much easier.
Thanks to everyone who had given doordash cards to us- it's really provided a food lifeline for me and my little family!!!
