Journal

For those of you who are still following my moms updates…

Thursday her and my dad headed down to the University of Minnesota.

From there she had some pre-op stuff that still needed to be done prior to her surgery. She had labs drawn Thursday afternoon and Friday morning a CT and MRI scan.

After her CT and MRI scan, they prepped her for surgery where she underwent a craniotomy with resection of the arteriovenous malformation.

Prior to her surgery, Dr. Tummala informed my dad and her how they surgery was anticipated to go. Tummala is hopeful for a full recovery.

She was in surgery and recovery for roughly 13 hours. The team that was working on her thankfully gave us updates every 2 hours (the anticipation was killing us). Every time they updated us, everything was going great and as expected.

Once Dr. Tummala was done with his part of the surgery, he came out and talked to my dad how everything went. He was very confident that he got it all resected. He stated that with the extent of the surgery her short term memory will regress again. They took her to a new OR room and performed an angiogram to make sure that they did get everything out that they wanted.

She was in the recovery room for two hours before she was moved to her room in the ICU. They informed us that once she was settled in her room, we were able to come see her.

She was very alert when we got in her room and very happy to see us. She was complaining of some pain but that is to be expected. We only were able to see her for 20 minutes before they shut down visiting hours.

I will continue to update this site with how she is doing.

Thank you again for your continued thought and prayers, it truly means so much to us!
