Journal entry by John Fraser —
Good news! Kay will be returning home today. Healing as progressed to the point where hospitalization is no required but there is still a lot of care needed. While she is doing extremely well, she is able to return home with significant help from her friends and family with near 24 hour coverage that she has put in place.
I think it is also important to note that being home doesn't change that Kay is still wanting to focus greatly on physical and mental healing and is asking for a fair amount of privacy at this time. She will slowly increase external communication via normal channels but please let that be at her pace.
Infection concerns and even something as simple as a cold or more serious like COVID would also hinder healing so she is continuing to limit visitors. We appreciate in advance respecting her wishes despite everyone's excitement to communicate and see Kay thriving in the home environment.
She will have daily therapy that is outpatient so requests to help with transportation, meal prep or other duties may come. Family is stepping in locally and from overseas but even they will need a break at times or have other commitments. The goal is obviously for Sofia and Victoria to also help some but making sure they also have time to focus on school, dance, work and their own healing. The last 18 months has been a crazy time for them both.
There is a good chance this is the final update for a while so I want to thank people again for the support. We will talk to everyone soon!
