Katie’s Story

Site created on November 15, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. Katie is having surgery to remove a cavernous malformation from her brain stem.

Journal entry by Rachel Hauser

Today was Katie’s last full day in rehab! She has worked hard to be able to leave early and get home to her husband and pets. Jonathan will be down in Rochester tomorrow to go over some home-care needs Katie might have with her care team and then the two of them will head home in the afternoon.

Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers; it was truly felt. Hopefully this will be the end of Katie’s CCM concerns and she can go back to living free of the fears and frustrations involved with having a cavernous malformation. Her recovery is not over, but the worst is over and the best is yet to come.

Thank you again for showing your support not only for Katie but for our family as a whole.
