Newest Update

Journal entry by Katie Davison

Hey there, everyone time for an update… Sorry it’s been a minute but for anyone that’s gone through these type of situation there’s a lot of hurry up and wait!
As many of you know, I did get my colostomy bag about four weeks ago now. It’s crazy how I’ve had three kids via C-section and this surgery literally knocked me on my ass! But I guess that’s also the difference between being in my 20s and now in my 40s, so I finally pretty much recovered from that surgery. I did have a little bit of a hiccup and got a small infection but I feel like that has cleared up for the most part and once my surgeon cleared me from that My appointments started stacking up pretty quickly.

So tomorrow, October 16, I will be going in for two procedures… One I am getting my lung biopsied as they found a really small nodule during my PET scan so they want to see what’s going on with that and then I will also be getting my port put in that will be in for my chemo treatments.

Thursday I will go see a nutritionist which I’m actually really excited about… I think it will be good to be able to have someone help with foods that will be good for me especially if there’s a lot of nausea and all the side effects that coming along with the chemotherapy.

Friday I have a zoom call with my oncologist and then I need to go get lab work done as well.
My first chemo treatment will be on Monday, October 23. As long as all my labs come back well I will be going in for four hours to get my treatment, and then they are going to be sending me home with a pump that will be on for the next 48 hours or so. I will go back on Wednesday where they disconnect everything and then I get to do it all over again every two weeks… So I guess I get a week off in between treatments.

And more fun news I’m super excited that Kiara and Novah are coming for a visit. They will be here for a week. It will do my heart happy and we are also hopefully going to be able to see Zack this weekend up in Vegas as he’s there for twitch con!

Thanks to everyone that has been super supportive with the meal train, or even reaching out and sending me all kinds of fun things to do while I get chemo, It’s been a blessing and all the food that people have made has been delicious. The gift cards have been amazing too, DoorDash is amazing

My journey is finally starting. And I feel really blessed that I have so many friends and family in my corner cheering me on and sending prayers along the way. I know this will probably be a rough few months but I’ll take it one day at a time.
love to all!
