Almost 6 weeks in Swedish KATIE is out of the hospital. The vast majority of recovery after traumatic brain injury takes place in the two years after injury; after this the brain injured patient faces an uncertain future. In some patients further improvement is seen even as late as 5-10 years after injury......so that is a big window of continued upside. Katie is already on the upside of this recovery AND HAS MADE AMAZING PROGRESS, functioning really well and we are very hopeful for her continued recovery.
She is at her Dad and Reny's in Auburn awaiting an interview next week with a TBI residence in Auburn that has specific programs and activities to help in her recovery. We are so proud of her and thankful and grateful for all of you.
