Doc referred me to a place in Duluth who had a really tough time getting me into their system or setting an appointment. In a moment of frustration I called Hibbing and asked if there wasn't some Fairview between Ely and the metro that might be able to get me in. They sent a referral, I had a consult with a doc at the U, who said I've already got a cancer diagnosis, so no point doing the bronchoscopy and biopsy. Shortly after that, I got in to Duluth for a consult, so took that appointment. I finally got a call to schedule the procedure - at the U. Surprised me, but my doc must have talked the U guy into ordering one. That happened Tuesday this week at the U of M hospital in Mpls. Whew!
While I wasn't completely worried since my numbers have been good and I've had good lung function, I hated having the uncertainty hanging over my head. (I also wasn't looking forward to the procedure, to be honest. ) Long story a little shorter, the procedure was easier than imagined and results are benign. No new malignancy. The little mess causing the cough isn't something they'd treat, so I just keep doing what I am doing. The cough has improved, so at least it's tolerable. I have to admit enjoying the surprise in doc's voice when he called and I told him I was tramping in the woods gathering maple sap for syrup🙂.
Finally enjoying being outside after the nearly 20" of snow we got last week. While we needed the moisture, this time of year we prefer rain.
Enjoy your day and your weekend. I have more sap to gather!!
