Kathy’s Story

In January 2024, Kathy was diagnosed with breast cancer: Stage 1 Invasive Ductile Carcinoma - of the Triple Negative variety.  Breast cancer in and of itself is a devastating diagnosis, but the added blow of the Triple Negative diagnosis is further distressing because it tends to be more aggressive so the treatment is as well.  Kathy will begin the fight of her life this week - starting with 6 months of chemotherapy, then surgery followed with more treatments after; but she is far from alone.  With the love and support of her amazing family and friends, we are confident she will win each little war, and triumph over the greater battle. Please follow along for updates, a little education (as we learn along the way), and ways you can help our incredible girl.  🎗🎗🎗🎗🎗🎗🎗🎗🎗🎗 How can you help? She's so fortunate to surround herself with incredible friends and a family that loves her.  Many of which have asked what they can do.  It's terribly difficult to ask for help, so many of us are taking it upon ourselves to do that so she doesn't have to.      - First and Foremost - Prayers and positive thoughts!  We certainly believe these go a long way!    - A benefit account has been set up at Gate City Bank - it's called "Benefit for Kathy Huss".  Stop by any branch and make a donation to that account.  If you are not local to a Gate City Bank and want to make a contribution, please contact Bobbi (mbprox@hotmail.com)    - Meal Train - a meal train has been organized to help lighten the load.  You can find information about that on the Ways to Help (support) tab. Please note some special requests regarding food allergies!   - T-shirt fundraiser!  See the Ways to Help tab.   - Are you in the neighborhood? Things like noticing if their driveway needs shoveling, lawn needs to be mowed...those kinds of things will certainly be helpful to allow caregivers to keep her company.
