Journal

This Mothers Day, I wrote some poetry for the special mothers in my life. Happy Mother's Day!

A LIMERICK FOR MARGE RICE, KATHY’S MOM
My mother-in-law named Marge,
Has a beautiful heart that’s so large.
It’s easy to tell,
How she loves us so well,
And gives more as our families enlarge.

A LIMERICK FOR BONNIE HOLLOWAY, MY MOM
Energizer Bonnie (my mom),
Has forever been the bomb,
She is now ninety-six,
What makes her still tick?
She is thriving with lots of aplomb.
But wait, I need to write more,
How much love she continues to pour,
Into three kids,
Three grands and six greats,
She loves us all down to our core.

A HAIKU FOR (AUNT) NANCY RICE, KATHY’S SISTER
Aunt Nancy serves us,
Aunt Nancy loves our children.
Thank you, Lord, for Nancy.

A HAIKU FOR KATHY
Kathy’s greatest joy,
Was being a loving mom,
Now, joy eternal.

A POEM FOR KATIE AND SARAH, OUR TWO DAUGHTERS
Katie and Sarah, our daughters they be,
M-0-M-M-I-N-G,
First came Pierce, Blaine close behind,
The best darn twins you ever could find.

Then came Landry, the girl in the fam,
Dolls and babies ,that’s her jam.
Number 4 is Reed; kinetic, that boy,
Any kind of ball, is his best toy.

Back to their Mom, Katie Queen Bee,
She does it all, for her great family,
Mother, Teacher, fiercely loves,
Points her kids to the ONE up above.

Sarah’s little peeps, Cooper and Clarke,
What a great mom, from dawn way past dark,
She not only loves them, But enjoys them so much,
She nurtures and teaches with such gentle touch.

Katie and Sarah learned from the best,
Kathy was their mom, we all were blessed.
The last ten months, without her here,
Have been so hard, with many a tear.

But we have sure hope, we’ll see her again.
Jesus called her home, and it is in Him,
We all put our trust for eternal life,
Thank you, Lord, for their mother, my wife.
