Good Morning!

My mom's surgery went well yesterday. Dr. Yen said that he was able to go in and scrape out some of the bad stuff behind her knee as well as take out some of the eschar that had reappeared since last week. He is hoping that she will potentially be able to begin using a wound vac tomorrow. After remaining in the recovery room for an hour and a half, she came back to her room awake and her pain was under control. I had preordered her lunch and it had arrived just when she returned. She said for the first time in forever that she was actually hungry! She ate pretty well and I was so proud of her!  The rest of the late afternoon was spent in and out of naps.

We are not sure where she will go from here at this point, either to a rehabilitation center or back to my house. Either way, neither will happen until early next week most likely. Our hope is that the wound will begin to heal from the surgery yesterday with the use of the wound vac. Then in the next 10-14 days she will be able to go in for another surgery to have a filler piece called Integra put into the wound. This gives the calf a little more shape and would allow for new skin to attach easier to the wound. We would then need to wait another 10-14 days for that to heal and then she would have a skin graft. This is the ideal plan, but we need to stay clear of all infections to stay on track.

Please pray for the infections to stay away, for the strength and ability for mom to work along with the physical therapists to get her strength back, and for her to remain optimistic about her healing and her future.

We appreciate all of the friends who have taken time out of their busy lives to come and visit, all of the flowers and cards that have been sent, and most importantly all of the prayers that have been said for my mom and family. We feel the love that is shared by all of you!

God's Got This!

Have  great weekend ahead and we will work on healing over here!

Jen
