Discharge Day Today marks the next chapter in moms journey! She was discharged from Trimont today and is home. 🏡 37 days. It took 37 days for her to get home. In some ways it drug on forever and today I just can’t believe how far she has come in 37 short days. She is completely independent with all her cares. 🙌🏻 We didn’t know what to expect after cardiac arrest; what she would be able to do herself.... but she has blown every milestone out of the water. She even made supper tonight. She had an awesome week full of visitors. She enjoyed seeing every single one of them. It really helps jog her memory. What is ahead? Lots of therapy. Mom starts PT,OT , and Speech Therapy next week. She will also have her first out of the hospital follow up visits. Her speech is perfect, but speech therapy is great for cognitive therapy. She will be continuing with these therapy’s to help aid in her memory loss. Her long term memory is perfect. Almost too perfect. She will meet with neurology in the next couple of weeks to discuss her short term memory loss. We keep hearing “it’s mild”. We have high hopes she will regain her short term memory. They tested her for memory loss 9/14 and she scored a 9 (pretty severe). They retested her a couple days ago and she scored a 22! She more than doubled her score. 27 is considered “normal”. She has come so far in just a week with her memory. All good signs. And a huge praise that the delirium is gone and hasn’t returned!!! Thank you Jesus! Her and dad went on a date last night and went grocery shopping. Her first outing.....Crazy how exciting grocery shopping can be.... it’s the little things. Dad and mom are both so happy that they will no longer be apart at bedtime. Thank you all for your prayers. Mom is so lucky to have such an amazing family. Her sister Carol, SIL Jill, cousin Julie have all stepped up in such big ways to help mom and ensure her transition home is a safe one. Her brother Ken and dad are entering into harvest 2021 and we hope everyone will have a safe harvest. We give God all the glory today. It is all him. -Megan
