The country continues to experience significant challenges and unrest since the last post. We truly hope that you and your family are taking care and staying healthy.
Kathryn, Sid, and I decided to drive to Michigan the end of March. It was nice to be out of the city and have indoor and outdoor space as we stayed at home. Michael also was home, so it was a special time filled with cooking, board games, walks, and of course working remotely. Michael and Sid departed in late May. Kathryn and I drove back to Boston on June 12. We stopped in Niagara Falls for the night which was a delight without all the tourists.
Once back, Kathryn had her MRIs, x-rays, and CT - all were good! She then had a full-body bone scan, which also was good - a huge sigh of relief and gratitude! Her next round of scans will be in three months. It's hard to believe that it has been almost a year since Kathryn's tibia replacement. She has come so far from learning to walk again to taking her first hike last week.
Kathryn finished up her summer class and started her internship this week - working remotely for now. It is a bit of an adjustment returning to an 8 to 5 daily schedule - definitely needs her morning coffee. The internship is through December, and then she has one more semester to finish her degree.
I am flying back to Michigan tomorrow. Kathryn is ready to have her independence back, though she may miss my housekeeping and cooking, if not my driving skills.
During this turbulent time, it's encouraging to find inspiration from so many. Kathryn's courage, resilience, and spirit continue to amaze and inspire me. Your ongoing caring and support have carried us through some difficult times - we are forever appreciative.
