Kathryn’s Story

Site created on February 20, 2013

Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time.  Caringbridge will probably be asking you for donations--we gave them a substantial donation at the start of this, so you really shouldn't feel obligated to do so.

OK, here we are in 2018.  The previous surgery of March 7,  2013 gave some relief but didn't correct the sub-aortic stenosis long-term, so I am scheduled for another surgery (my third) on July 24, 2018 [Note: this has been rescheduled to August 7, 2018].  Everything we posted in 2013 (below) is still true.  We need your positive thoughts and your encouragement. and look forward to seeing everyone again.

You can read in the journal when I am out of the ICU and ready to receive visitors.

I was born on August 31 2001 with a heart defect. I had corrective surgery in October 2001. They have now advised me to have a further correction, including a double valve replacement, and correction of a sub-aortic stenosis.  My surgery is March 7.

I want to keep everyone updated, and I need positive thoughts and  prayers during this time.  I hope to see all of you soon, and I want to be riding again this spring.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Thomas Boothby

Kathryn was discharged from the hospital about noon today.  We got her home about 2:30 and she slept the rest of the afternoon, without anyone waking her up for a treatment!  We are all happy to have her at home, although we all have to make some adjustments to her limitations as she recovers.

Thanks to all of you again for your support and good wishes.  We are sure that you have hastened her recovery.

Love,
Tom, Anne, Clara, and Kathryn
