Journal entry by Nan Principe Crockett

Jan. 4 makes it one year! And what a year.

One year since Kevin generously donated and Kathleen gratefully received this kidney.
One year since your prayers and concern got us through the surgery. (And beyond,  throughout 2022 as well!)

Yesterday, Kathleen was seen by her nephrologist at Emory and the report is to stay the course. She goes back in April. Labs show BK virus decreasing but not gone yet. Liver enzymes continue to be elevated so they may send her to another specialist for that after consulting with the Hopkins team.
She continues to be frustrated with the medication side effects (hair loss, tremors, weight gain, lack of appetite, cataracts, easily bruising, acid reflux to name a few) and the current hernia.  She sees Hopkins transplant, infectious disease and pulmonology in the next few days and rheumatology later on. By the end of the month she'll be starting a new, hopefully more stimulating and challenging job at the Pentagon. Good things are happening!
You all know what a year of highs and lows it's been and we thank you for being in it with us. Happy 2023 to everyone!
