Katherine’s Story

Site created on May 6, 2018

After having vocal cord issues over the past year, CT scans revealed a mass in my lungs.  On May 1st, 2018, I found out it metastasized to my brain, with 10
small lesions.

Journal entry by Carol Nesper

Dear Friends and Family of Katherine Nesper,

I wanted to share with you two events in remembrance of my sister that serendipitously both occurred on November 3, 2021. The first was the planting of a red buckeye tree by the Village Garden Club of Shaker Heights. This was arranged by her close college friends Gwen, Sue, Nancy, CJ, Emily, and Ann. It is located at Horseshoe Lake, in Shaker Heights. There will be a tag on it with #40 if you would like to pay your respects. I will give you more details on the exact location as soon as I find it.

The other event was a Service of Remembrance at St Paul's Episcopal Church, the church we went to growing up (and where my parents got married). I was not aware that Kathe would be included in the ceremony and was touched to find out that my friend Suzanne was there and lit a candle for Kathe when they read her name.

I expect it will always be a challenge for me to come to terms with my sister's death.  (I just today took all of the sympathy cards I received off the mantel). Nevertheless  it is events like those that just occurred that ease the pain and give us a time and place to express our sorrow.

Peace to all,

Carol
