NICU day 7

Our sweet Katherine is ONE WEEK OLD today! She celebrated by gaining one ounce above her birth weight. She is 2lb, 6oz today.

Katherine is still on the ventilator today, and she seems super happy and content on it for the second day in a row. She has been relaxed and sleeping most of the day today.

Her gtube feedings were increased to 4ml today and she appears to be tolerating that well. She is still getting suppositories every 12 hours to help her poop.

Her nurse gave her a bath today, and she absolutely hated every second of it LOL. They said she cried and squirmed the whole time, but as soon as it was over she was SO content and peaceful. Her nurse also washed and brushed her hair, and it was looking so beautiful when we went to see her. Katherine definitely already has very strong opinions about what she likes and what she does not like. 

The doctor and nurse talked about taking her off the ventilator tomorrow, depending on how her chest xray looks. Her Daddy and I can't wait for her to be off the ventilator, but we don't want to rush things either. We are both dying for her to be off the vent and big enough for us to hold, but we definitely want to give Katherine all the time she needs to rest and grow. NICU stays are a marathon, not a sprint.
