Journal

I saw the doctor on Tuesday. He removed the only sutures (my belly button) and the Doppler wires. The rest of my incisions are all glued together and the glue peels off in its own time. I still cannot have any pressure on my chest so big hugs and my favorite side sleeping are still off limits. My arms have been released to full movement and as my incision pain allows I can start working towards normal posture. I  can now go upstairs as well as start to do a lot of stretching. Sleep is still on my back but I can lay flat which is a huge help. I’m still not cleared to lift more than 10 lbs or drive (due to the sudden movements that steering may require). As I’m off of all medicine that would preclude driving, if my range of motion is better on Monday when I see the other surgeon I will likely be cleared to resume driving. Lifting and side/front laying positions will be discussed at my “clearance appointment” on May 16. I find I still have some brain fog but slowly but surely that’s clearing. For 2 weeks out, I’m far better than I would expect to be but realize I’ve still got a long way to go. Getting up remains difficult and getting back to ideal posture will take some time. I dream of the day when I can sleep on my side again
