Kasper’s Story

Site created on July 1, 2018

Hello everyone, first off thank you so much for all the outpouring of prayers and support of Kasper and his family. I am going to do my best to update this site with information from Belle and Josiah. Quick back story: Kasper was born June 5th, and is a super sweet and low key baby. On his 3 week birthday, he became very ill and after three days of consistent throwing up, Kasper was admitted to Seattle Children's hospital. On the morning of June 29th, Kasper had surgery to repair a malformation of his intestines. He is now recovering in the NICU- I will provide updates here. Again, thank you for your prayers.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Erin Crabtree

From Josiah:

Dearest friends and family,

Kasper is home! Sorry this update was not issued sooner, but better late than never, right? Wednesday night Kasper was given the green light to start consuming Pedialyte (until this point in time I never understood why "Gatorade for babies" was ever invented...now I know). After 4 electrolyte and sugar water "shots" without any spit up, we we're cleared to move on to breast milk. I think I already mentioned this, but Kasper latched on on to the boob like a war vet who hasn't seen his sweet lady in a long time. After a few successful feedings, his iv was removed and the discharge process was put into motion.
Late Thursday night, Kasper arrived home with his mom and mammy (Kaprice/Belle's mom).  Since he has returned, it has been a bit of a transition. The kids have been at each other's throats and seem out of sorts. Belle is struggling with worry concerning Kasper's health and feels like the older kids are acting strangely (which I agree with her fully). Belle's mom went home yesterday and my mom is here til tomorrow. Both grandmas have been extremely helpful and have done so much to make this time easier. In the end, we are blessed and have little to complain about. You have all been so generous and willing to allow God's love to flow through you. We have undeniably felt it and are so grateful. This will likely be our final update, unless anything major goes down (which we do not expect). Please pray for our family as we transition to having him home. He has been really fussy, which makes us worry at times and adds an element of stress. Finally, I want to thank Erin for managing all the updates. She has been so supportive and a calming friend to Belle in some of her most stressfull times. Thanks to you who brought food, watched our kids and prayed your heart's out! We love you!
