Last sunday Karrah began to develop a fever. The timing of her fever corresponded with her immune system tanking so I (micah) had to take her to the ER. (Chemo at a certain point wipes out your immune system so almost anything can make you sick.) we were transferred to IUPUI and spent a few days in oncology. Last night Karrah’s blood pressure was low and her throat was swollen and causing excruciating pain. She could not speak or eat and barely swallow. The doctors couldn’t administer any more pain killers because those would drop her blood pressure even more, they decided to move her to ICU to bring her blood pressure back up.
Overnight her blood pressure went back up and they we’re able to give her more morphine which is she can administer with the push of a button.
This morning the took some scans of her head and chest and are going to move her back down to oncology.

Karrah is in less pain compared to last night and is resting and recovering. Thankyou for your support and prayers!

FYI I have learned a lot about hospitals while staying here and am going to start adding some tips incase you ever find yourself in a position similar to ours. Many times waiting rooms do not have anywhere for you to sleep, oncology has pull out couches but the ICU does not have anything, people pull chairs together and make makeshift beds out of furniture that will make you sore when you wake up. If you know you are going to need to stay overnight as a patients supporter bring a cot to sleep on. I also purchased a folding lawn chair that reclined and that worked well too. Bring an eyemask and and earbuds if your a lite sleeper or just sneak in a bottle of whiskey and make yourself a bedside cocktail.
