Latest Site Updates

Journal

Some have asked about further updates.  I talked to Karen about her preferences. She would like to wrap up communication on the site with a final post.

As with any major stroke, recovery has been a path of continual ups and downs. In general, Karen can talk fairly easily with people, but sometimes struggles to express her main thought. On her best days, Karen can walk quite well with her walker. She seems to really appreciate wearing skirts instead of Rehab clothes every day.

Karen has made it to a few gospel meetings and expressed how rich and encouraging that felt. Most Sunday mornings a couple of us meet with Karen in her room. There’s is a deep sense of worship, encouragement, love and thankfulness in those precious little meetings.

Karen freely shares the gospel story with anyone who speaks of it or asks her about being a minister. She has touched staff at Jones Family Care Home, her therapists at Swan Rehab, and her doctors. It is the Lords work in people that creates change and renewal, but Karen is faithful in providing the opportunity. She frequently expresses that she has learned many important lessons from this experience, that she’s more grateful than ever for the Lords kind support through difficult times, and that she is content with whatever place she finds herself in.

We are still learning how to balance visiting and rest. Karen is not used to this much time alone, but she can become very weary even after short simple visits. Karen still has her same email and phone, but I wouldn’t want to share that here and have her overwhelmed. The best way to communicate with Karen is via letters mailed to the field address on the previous post. Brief interactions with a soft spirit/energy/manner work best.

Thank you for your care and support.
