Since the last update four months ago, we've continued to travel every 3 weeks to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston where Karen has been participating in a clinical trial. Within the first few rounds of treatment, the cancer shrunk by 50%. The last few rounds showed the cancer holding stable.
Unfortunately, the most recent scan showed that the cancer is growing which eliminates Karen from the clinical trial. Not the news we wanted to hear. We were hoping she could go a lot farther with this drug cocktail. This lemon's lemonade though is that we will no longer have to travel to and from Boston which had become grueling and exhausting for Karen with 20 trips made over the last year, each one a 20 hour round trip drive (the first time we flew and we got covid). So, we'll be back at the Cleveland Clinic for treatment where Karen will likely start an immunotherapy (Keytruda and Lenvima). Fingers crossed.
