Karen’s Story

Site created on April 17, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge site.  We are using it to provide updates on Karen's condition & recovery for our beloved family and friends.  We appreciate your prayers, love & support.  The vast number of people that Karen has touched in her life is amazing.  She has many long-lasting friendships w/ many of you. We know that you care & this site provides you a place to share your stories & well wishes for her w/ the expectation that this will help fuel her during her recovery.

Karen suffered a stroke - bleeding in the brain due to a ruptured aneurysm behind her left eye - on Friday, April 16th. She was participating in her regular workout, just like any normal day. During the workout, she stepped away & appeared to be walking towards the bathroom when she collapsed from the stroke.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers, love & support,
Mike

Journal entry by Michael Lawler

I am one step closer to returning to all my"normal" activities. After an unplanned 3 month vacation from Burn Boot Camp I was able to attend my first camp on this rainy Saturday morning. I was nervous but I modified the work-out and appreciated the high-fives and encouragement. (Thank you Mary for attending the camp with me). Burn Boot Camp is such a supportive community with amazing trainers - Victor, Levi and Melissa really help all members reach their full potential. We really are stronger together.

I can now continue toward my next goal... to have a successful and up-lifting Walk to Defeat ALS to support the Williams family. Take the "steps" to join Team Willie Strong and walk with us on September 12th at 1pm in Avon(meeting place is 36126 N Park Dr.)

As always, a heartfelt thanks and gratitude to everyone who has made this journey a testament to human kindness.

Peace & Love, Karen
