Feb14, It’s Valentines Day. It’s just like any other day and I spent it at the dentist and a follow up with the surgical oncologist. My pathologist reported DCIS with a single polyp found in one of my Ductal glands.
I talked to survivor’s of this diagnosis from relatives, to coworker, to friends until I just had to stop. The range of treatments went from low to full on mastectomies with reconstruction. The last person I talked to was my nephew’s wife a PA for a breast cancer doctor. She was the right person to talk to because all I really wanted was a bias point of view. Since my doctor was not available my niece put my mind to rest. I was prepared to hear what my doctor was going to tell me.
Through a picture of where the cancer was she mapped out how my DCIS started and what treatments were next. Surgery Feb 27 where she will remove all my Ductal glands, Simple out patient, IV sedation, with a few days off. Pathologist report will determine what’s next.
I’m a planner, not being able to know what happens next after surgery has me freaked out. I hate waiting so I’ll just have to stop here!
Dear God give me patience!
