Dear friends,

Thank you all for your care and prayers over these past few weeks.  My stomach is not much improved, but the good news is that I don't have C Diff which is what the doctors were mostly concerned about.  They have started me on a probiotic that will hopefully help.  However, in the process of doing lab work to test for C Diff, the doctors have learned that my platelets are very low.  They wanted me to do an IVIG infusion last week, but I asked to wait on it.  They have since done two more blood tests and they continue to swing downwards.  The incision site now has new bruising which I don't think is really a problem, but merely an indication of the low platelets.  The hematologist has sent pictures to the surgeon to get his opinion.  No one seems to know why the platelets are so low because I have not missed any of my platelet injections.  Anyway, they are starting me on a short term treatment to try to boost the platelets.  Please just pray that the Great Physician will cause a rise in these platelets.  I otherwise feel fine and am continuing to walk and go to physical therapy.  I'm still rockin' the cane when I go out, but have stopped using it at home!
