Jason’s Story

Site created on November 30, 2021

Thank you for taking the time to keep updated with our story. This is mainly about Jason and his cancer journey, but it’s also a family update sometimes as well.

December 27, 2020 we had a house fire on our acreage. We had just moved in May, and it was a dream home. Unfortunately it was a total gut and The contracting company has been difficult to work with and almost a year later, they are finally starting work. But we see the blessing because without the fire, our house wouldn't have been able to sell for as much and we need that equity for cancer treatments.

In June 2021 we had found out Jason was 5 year remission from his first Melanoma finding, and in the same month just a few weeks later we found out what we thought was a shoulder injury was stage 4 metastasized melanoma in his shoulder bone. Scans later showed some in his lung as well, and now in his brain.

So through the fire trauma, moving 8 times in a 2.5 years, we sold the acreage so we can be more financially free to fight Jason’s cancer. We are so thankful that God provided a way to make cancer treatments in Kansas City work, when conventional treatments weren't working.  We are so incredibly ready to make a house our home again.

We know this is an up hill battle, but also know Christ took all these burdens for us. And the Hope and peace in him is unexplainable. Clinging to His promises are carrying us through.

Thank you, and please keep praying!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Samantha Karaidos

Jason will be having surgery on May 24. This will be taking away half his A/C joint and part of his actual shoulder bone and the muscles/ligaments involved.  It’ll be a long road of physical therapy, but his pain with be gone. We have the pain somewhat managed until then but now the cancer in his tail bone area is flaring up and that is causing him a lot of pain even on the pain meds for his shoulder.

This journey is a roller coaster, you have a split second at the top to breathe and then it comes speeding down. A split second at the top isn’t enough, but I thank God for the friends in life who continue to encourage us.

A few things to pray for:
1) Pain management

2) because of the pain, Jason isn’t sleeping and we both are completely exhausted.

3)Jason’s body would handle the surgery well, and his healing even better

4) strength for me (Sam) physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually to to handle the busiest season of our year and adding this surgery and Jason’s healing to it all. Please pray for my attitude to humble myself to be the caregiver and wife Jason needs without bitterness because I am tired too (if I’m being honest and vulnerable here).

5) wisdom with life decisions such as starting a full time job for me. Continuing to make these decisions out of faith and not fear and rearranging life to take some things off our plate. Pray the future job would be flexible with our lives.

6) the next scans show even more shrinking in his body and starting to shrink in the brain

7) continue to pray for provisions financially
