Kaitlyn’s Story

Site created on April 23, 2023

On April 25th, Kaitlyn is having a surgery in Iowa to remove a cyst and tumor that was found in the back portion of her brain. After they remove it, they will be able to determine if it is just an abnormal growth or if it is potentially cancerous.

Kaitlyn and family appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers over the next few days/weeks ahead and will be posting surgery and recovery updates to this care page.

Journal entry by Kim Builta

Today we received great news about Kaitlyn!!

The term "low vs. high grade" is used to describe these types of tumors rather than "benign" and "cancerous." Since Kaitlyn's condition is low grade in this instance, she won't be receiving any additional treatment at this time. The results of the upcoming genetic testing is something we hope to hear additional information

Beginning in June, another MRI is scheduled.

Throughout this challenging time we sincerely appreciate everyone's continued support, thoughts and prayers. Words cannot describe how much we appreciate our family, friends and community.
