Kade’s Story

Site created on October 5, 2018

Kade had been having fevers on and off for a month. So they were going to check him for a tick illness and so had a blood draw to check Monday morning October 1st. Alecia received a call late that afternoon telling her she needed to bring Kade to Fargo immediately they thought he had Leukemia. They gave blood that first night, and did more tests. On Tuesday he had a diagnosis of Leukemia and had a port placed, bone marrow biopsy and chemo within 24hrs. One positive is that this is the most common type of childhood leukemia (ALL type B) and has the best prognosis.

Journal entry by Alecia Moore

Fargo day today- everything went pretty well aside from a weird reaction to Benadryl of all things! It is hard for him to explain how he is feeling and it turns out his explanation of "I can't see!" is actually him being dizzy 😬... He scared me for a minute! We have a little less than 2 more years of this routine- here is his nightly chemo and other meds (it is not always this many pills but he still gets chemo everyday and will continue for about 2 more years😒).
