Happy Sunday! I though I’d take a moment to answer a few FAQs about Kade.

What is still connected to Kade?

He still has his g-tube. This will not be removed until he gets back to eating well (and enough) again. He’s been maintaining or gaining weight so we are working on trying to transition him off of it, but I’m learning that with Kade, this is going to be a slow process. He seems to be eating slightly more each week so that’s a win.

Can he go out and about?

Not completely. We have been told he can go outside, and places where we can distance him outside. This all has to do with his immune system and the impact of his treatment. His treatment wiped his it out including the vaccinations he had received and antibodies he got from me before he was born. He just did a blood test on Friday to check his immune system numbers, but I haven’t heard what they mean yet. We will go back to Riley on May 3. They are hopeful he may be able to start re-immunizing again if the numbers are high enough.

After laying low the past few months, our family has tried to start getting out more - mainly trying to let Kolt have fun and get back into his typical spring/summer routine.

Does he walk far?

Depends on the day. We’ve been trying to take daily walks. Usually we go down the road and back, sometimes that ends with me carrying him home or just a few minutes until he’s rested. He can play and walk for quite a bit, but he needs breaks. You can tell when he needs a break from his breathing or how much he wobbles. He’s starting to recognize this in his own too.

Is he still taking medicine?

Yes. He has a nausea medication that he takes 2x each day. He had an antibiotic that he takes 2x, 3 days a week. He has a few others that are as needed.

Thank you for the continued prayers and kind thoughts 💜
