Welcome to my CaringBridge website. I am using it to keep family and friends updated in one place on what is happening on my battle with Triple Negative Breast Cancer and also as a way to write out some things I am walking through. I appreciate your prayers and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Kaci Rodriguez

I just finished a week at MD Anderson for a mammogram and ultrasound and to see my oncologists. Overall, I got all great reports! My scans were clear and I’m healing mostly well. I will go back in 6 months to see them all again and repeat scans. For Triple Negative Breast Cancer, if it’s going to return it will come back in the first 5 years so I’ll be watched very closely so if there is recurrence it will be caught early.

I am still dealing with some side effects from radiation which is apparently normal. For most patients, side effects peak at 6 months and I’m 5 months out so it make sense. My radiation oncologist’s PA noticed some changes in my breast so she recommended that I see a physical therapist who specializes in lymphadema. I texted my physical therapist here and she said there’s no specialists in Roswell. So I asked the PA if there was any way I could see a PT at MDA on the same day since we were leaving the next day. She said she would ask but was pretty certain that there wasn’t any way they could see me because they book out really far in advance. Well, the Lord is bigger than schedules because they had a cancellation at 2:00! So I was able to see the PT and she said I have moderate to severe breast lymphadema which means that my lymph nodes are having difficulty draining fluid. So she recommended that I get a compression bra and do a daily lymphatic massage. It can cause some serious complications but with treatment it should be fine.

So overall a great trip and very thankful for good news!
