Newest Update

Journal entry by Julie Watren

Hello family and friends! Here's a Justin update for ya. It's full of good, bad, and "wtf". Start with the good - Justin had his second chemo treatment two weeks ago. It went very smoothly and recovery only took a few days. We were well prepared for the side effects this time so it was well managed. Justin did notice that his hair started to fall out after this round, just like they said it would. It's not coming out in clumps, just shedding like one of our beasties! So Mama Kim was called in for a fresh haircut in case it gets worse 😊 So now for the bad.... this past Wednesday Justin started feeling sick. His temperature got to over 100 so, per doctor suggestion, he went to the ER that night to get his blood checked and whatnot. Well, we all know what season it is and Justin got slapped with Flu B. Blah! While he was with the doctors, he pointed out a rash that had started to develop on his lower back. Now here's the wtf... SHINGLES!!! Oh the joys of a weakened immune system! 🙄 The ER pumped him with fluids and sent him medications. Justin is doing well now, flu symptoms are minimal but the shingles rash is quite obnoxious and painful. His third chemo was suppose to be today but they pushed it back to next week. He has currently been banished to the basement for quarantine and, fingers crossed, we keep the flu away from Caleb. It's just a little hiccup in our journey but we are handling it well! We want to thank everyone again for your continued love and support!!!! 🥰
