Journal entry by Diane Drake —
Hello dear friends of the Sweeneys!
We have owed you an update for quite some time now. Julie completed her radiation treatment mid-September after going every weekday for six weeks. She tolerated treatments well and then, after recommendations from doctors, she took a two week leave from school. She experienced extreme fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, and headaches. But overall, she is grateful this part is over, and she back at work.
Julie will not know how well treatment worked until she has an MRI at the end of December. The need for the wait is that if is it done too soon, the results won’t be accurate. We are obviously praying for a clear scan! The plan going forward will be to have the final surgery to create and replace her skull within a year.
One of the main reasons for this update delay is regarding Julie’s sweet 5-year-old granddaughter, Johannah (Frances’ daughter). Jo has been in the hospital since September 1st. On that day, it was discovered that she had a brain bleed and this has had many dramatic effects that have disrupted their family for almost two months now. As you can imagine, Julie has wanted to be at the hospital and to help Fran’s family as much as she can. (Frances and Jon have two more little ones at home.) If you would like to follow Johannah’s progress, the link is below.
Julie thanks you so much for your continued care and support for herself and her extended family. Please pray for progress and healing for both Julie and Johannah.
