Journal

I will never take my health for granted.  I have definitely learned from this experience. Life in the last couple of weeks has been good and interesting. Some could say it’s been interestingly good.   I’m learning that my life is different. I’m learning that I am still healing.  I’m learning that I can’t do everything I could do before. I’m learning that sometimes I just need to listen and not ask questions.

So here is an update on how I am doing. Steps are still a challenge. I am still only going upstairs at night and coming downstairs in the morning. I’m still only driving limited distances.   I’m still a little fatigued by mid day.  I’m still wearing a mask in public spaces because of my immune system. Some people may see these as hurdles but I see them as successes because my recovery is improving day by day.

Kiley is loving school! She’s doing great, learning lots and bringing home some really fabulous germs. We have her on medicine, we have her giving me air hugs and blowing me kisses so that she does not come close to me. The only way to fully keep germs out is if we stay in a bubble which we all know it was not possible. But we are doing the best we can, to keep everybody healthy, especially me.

Here’s the interesting part. Today my family is preparing for Rosh Hashanah, and I was told I’m not permitted to go to synagogue. Our doctors believe that there are too many people, too many germs and this is not enough for me to risk it.  It is weird as I try and get Kiley in the mindset for the high holy days that we will be staying home and watching it on TV.  like I said at the beginning of this process what the doctors say goes. I have not come this far to go backwards.

So, we will blow our shofar, eat apples and honey and enjoy Rosh Hashanah dinner with family. So even though you may not see us at synagogue just know that we are celebrating at home.
