Welcome to Julie’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportJulie had a successful surgery to remove her port. She was more than a little irritated as we left, since she hadn't eaten in about 17 hours. Hangry is a very fitting description! She fought leaving, arguing that she couldn't leave because she needed to stay overnight. (Medical attention -seeking is a real thing!) The nurse was very helpful in trying to help me reason with her...though reasoning in that condition was never going to happen.
On the way home, we stopped by Chick-fil-A, got two sandwiches and a milkshake, and took them to our neighborhood park for a picnic lunch. It was perfect weather to hang out on the bench by the lake and eat. Within minutes of drinking some of the milkshake, Julie was back to "sweet Julie." Reminds me of the Betty White Snickers commercial!
She's been recovering well. She even asked if she could ride her stationary bike. Two weeks off of intense exercise doesn't include that... especially the day after surgery. So instead, we took a short, easy walk down the street and she spent a good part of the day drawing and working on Duolingo Spanish.
We're thankful to have this step done and now just need to be patient with healing.
