Newest Update

Journal entry by Julie Powell

One week into round 2 and things are going well.   Thus far my anti-nausea medications have been left untouched in their containers as they have not been needed.   I consider myself lucky that my body has been reacting well to all of the chemicals thus far.   Last week when I went in for my round two treatment the doctors did an ultrasound and remeasured my tumor.  My tumor has already shrunk by slightly more than half of it’s original size.  I was hoping this great news would come with the ability to reduce the number of chemo infusions but I was quickly shot down of that notion.  So two down four more to go.   I have been a little tired on some days but by the end of the third week I feel pretty normal.  The weekend before this last treatment the kids and I walked the zoo for over four hours while Chris was working.  I’m hoping that my body continues to react this way through further treatments as we would like the kids to have a relatively normal(ish) summer.  The doctors had told me to expect my hair to start falling out around 14 days from my first treatment and they were pretty well on the mark.  By day 16 I was ready to let the kids shave my head down so I’m now sporting a new hairdo and some new hats.

Thanks to everyone for your continued support.  Your comments here and on FB, texts, calls, cards, extras and visits continue to remind us of what we already knew even before all of this...we have amazing friends and family that we love dearly.   Thank you for being the wonderful people you are!
