Julie’s Story

Site created on March 13, 2023

Welcome to Julie’s CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated.

Julie was brought to Mercy ER in Valley City on February 15 for stroke like symptoms of left sided facial droop, facial twitching, dizziness. A CT scan was done and showed a mass in her brain. Combined with her symptoms and CT results, she was sent to Sanford ER for further evaluation .

Once in the ER, an MRI was completed of her brain and Chest. The MRI revealed 2 tumors in her brain and another tumor in her left lung. Of the two tumors in her brain; one is located in her brainstem, the other in the right frontal lobe of the brain. The mass in her brainstem is inoperable. The mass in her left upper lobe of her lung is about the size of a softball and is encroaching on the mediastinum of her heart and the vena cava. The placement makes it inoperable. Julie underwent a craniotomy to remove the mass in the right frontal lobe on February 17. Her surgery went well and did not have any post-op complications. She discharged to PAM Rehab for additional therapies and was discharged home with us girls on March 4.

With the tumor in her lung and additional tumors in the brain, it does unfortunately lead to a diagnosis of Stage IV lung cancer with metatastis to the brain. With stage 4, treatment options are limited to radiation and a possible combination of chemotherapy and immune therapy in hopes of giving Julie more time while having some quality of life.
I will try to post updates as much as I can. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!!

Journal entry by Stacey Lynn

Mom passed away Saturday July 8th @ 10:04am. Kellynn was at her side when she passed. This has been a difficult couple of months for her and although we will miss her everyday for the rest of our lives; we know that she is no longer in pain and finally at peace. She said that she was looking forward to riding her horses again.
Her celebration of life will be this Friday July 14th with visitation from 5-7pm and a short service at 7pm. Full obituary is available on the Wright Funeral Home & Creamation Service website.
