Journal
I just had my first, three month follow-up scan and labs. I'm thrilled to report that my CT scan came back clear and my CA-125 cancer marker is 3 (normal range is 0 - 35). It seems time continues to fly by but I wanted to let you all know I'm doing good. I feel my energy is returning although I still have days when I just can't do it.
We are getting completely settled into our new apartment. That means the boxes are all unpacked and we have found a place for most of the accumulated "stuff." We are enjoying Wheeling and getting to know the community. In other words, we know who delivers the best food. I signed up to work as an election judge for Cook County and have that training coming up this next week.
I continue to hope and believe that this cancer hiccup is a thing of the past. However, my cousin who had the same cancer as I do, passed away in December. My heart breaks for her children and it has been a reminder that each day is a gift. It is important to do what we love to do each day. During the time I was going through chemo and radiation, my cousin sent me a text almost every morning. She was my "go-to" person for dealing with side effects - especially the neuropathy in my feet and hands. She had been four years cancer "free" since her last treatments. I miss her and her cheerful good morning messages. I just hope I can be the strength to someone else at some point in time that she was to me.
