Journal entry by Julie Ann

Yesterday marked 5 years of having my double mastectomy.  Ladies if you are behind on your mammogram please, please don't put it off.  As many of you know my story, my mammogram in November showed no sign of cancer.  Then in February when I discovered I carried the CDH1 gene a MRI was ordered, once again only did cancer show up in one breast. Luckily I chose a double mastectomy if not I am not sure what my story would be today.  Yes recurrence is always in the back of my mind.  Fortunately I have a great oncologist that reassures me that it is her job to worry about that and my job to live life.  Once again humor is the best medicine and friends and family are the best of the best cures to get you through the cancer journey.  This picture always brings a smile and hopefully a reminder to get your ladies checked out!
