Julia update!

Julia has had a really good recovery over the past 3 months: slowly weaned off of the seizure meds, has gotten stronger and most of her balance/dancing prowess back with her weekly physical therapy appts and was even cleared to dance.

We all went to Disney this week to watch her dance on Friday but then something crazy happened. I will start with "she is perfectly fine now", but she had a small seizure after the dance.  Needless to say it scared the hell out of us and warranted another ambulance ride to the ER but they cleared her after about three hours and she was able to go back to the resort.  They did another CT in the ER and it didnt show anything different/new, thank God.  We spent the remainder of the time laying low and she was back to her good old self on Saturday, but just a bit tired.

We all suspect it was a perfect storm of her just getting off of her seizure medication (finished 2 days prior to trip) as well as the heat down here, dehydration and the lack of sleep and the stress from getting ready to dance that led up to this small setback.  Really goes to show there is no perfect science for recovering from these scenarios.  If we've learned anything, it's that we need to trust her body. She did have a small headache the morning of the dance as well as a stomach ache. We probably should have had her sit out but now we know for the future what may be a trigger for this if it even happens again.

Anyway, I want to stress she's perfectly fine and you would never have guessed it happened, but the doctors down here worked with the Children's doctors up in Wisconsin and decided that she needed to go back on her Keppra seizure medication for the time being.  Just a small inconvenience until we can figure out next steps here. They may clear her right away and we just need to take it easy for a while. We will be meeting with the docs  when we get back home!
