Julia’s Story

Site created on April 30, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge page for our sister, Julie Sweet. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time.

Julie started having horrible hip pain in the middle of April 2020 and met with several dismissive doctors. By the end of the month, Julie had a full hip replacement and  was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer with metastases to the femur and other bones.  The hip surgery removed the troublesome lesion and it also removed the necessity to have targeted radiation or further surgery for her hip. Julie and her hip are getting along and she recently moved to a transitional care rehab unit in St. Paul with Episcopal Homes.

Julie will begin chemo for the lung cancer and, wherever else the cancer is in her body, potentially as soon as next week. She had a Port installed and has a baseline  PET scan scheduled for Friday, May 8.  That is where her focus/energy is turning toward right now.

Please check back as we will use this page to update her friends and family on her journey.
