On Sunday, November 12, Judy was outside diligently removing oak leaves that had fallen on the family deck. Though she did a bang-up job and had the place spotless she was suddenly confused and disoriented. Judy was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital. There we learned that Judy had a hemorrhagic bleed in her brain. The bleed left her with left sided weakness, and very degraded neurological function. Over the course of several days, and visits from many wonderful medical specialists at Mercy Hospital, it became clear that Judy would not recover from this incident. On Saturday, November 18, Judy was placed under the care of a Hospice team and allowed to go home to enjoy time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
At her home, the family has gathered around Judy's bed on their beautiful sun porch with a mountainous collection of photos and mementos to reminisce and remind her of the wonderful life she has lead. Indeed, she has lead a truly wonderful life filled with love, travel, art, and learning.
A celebration of Judy’s life is planned for later next spring at the family home in Ham Lake, Minnesota.
