Judy’s Story

Site created on February 14, 2017

Thank you for visiting and supporting Judy!  In early February 2017, Judy was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.  As always, Judy is meeting this challenge with vigor and unrivaled positivity.  She is collaborating with the Cancer Center at Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.  Judy is surrounded by friends and family in Wisconsin and the surrounding states who are all highly engaged in supporting and encouraging Judy as she works through her treatment.

While undergoing clinical trial and chemotherapy treatments, Judy and Rick will be traveling and staying weekly in Milwaukee at Kathy's House, discounted lodging for cancer patients.  Unfortunately due to the sensitivity of Judy's immune system during treatment, she is unable to stay with family nearby with little ones unless everyone is 100% healthy, which is proving to be a serious challenge.

If you would like to help, any donations to support required lodging during this period would be a substantial help.  Typically a night stay is approximately $50 so the expenses will add up quickly with her weekly treatments required.  Judy and Rick have begun the weekly trips and will continue for the foreseeable next month or two, so any support is greatly appreciated!  Any donations can be routed through her GoFundMe page here: https://www.gofundme.com/2tgy2f-judys-medical-fund or you can click on "Ways to Help" on this website for a link.

The family will be using this website to provide ongoing updates and news on Judy's progress and relevant events.  Please feel free to come back often and provide notes of encouragement and support in the Thoughts & Well Wishes section below!  Judy is likely one of the most loving and positive people  we all know, so let's work together to do the same and help her beat this!

Our family is holding a Celebration in remembrance of a beautiful, creative, and love-filled life on Sunday, May 5th. We would like to invite friends and family to attend. The Celebration will be held at Judy’s sister’s house on Long Lake near Waupaca, WI, which is also where their parents lived and our family spent many happy days. Please contact us for directions. Judy’s daughter, Juliet, can be reached at julietjoy1@yahoo.com. Judy’s sister, Jeanie, can be reached at (920) 851-5485 and jeaniereimer@aol.com.

Judy’s family will be present from 1 to 5pm. A service will start at 2pm, with food and time for sharing memories to follow. Please dress in sunset/sunrise colors rather than black, in order to honor Judy’s love of color.

We are collecting donations to create an elementary school music scholarship in Judy’s name, in recognition of the many young lives she inspired while teaching and sharing her love of music.
