Journal entry by Katherine Lombardo

We adopted Judy from as a retired breeder from a cattery in 2016. After caring for a senior cat, Judy is a new, exotic pet keeping adventure.

Judy has a great way of paying attention to who is giving attention to her. I still remember meeting her in a bedroom with other pregnant Burmese and she greeted us sweetly like, “I know you are here just for me.” We were so excited to pick her up and give her a forever home.

The morning we brought her home, the owner of the cattery let us know that he thought Judy had been exposed to ringworm! So we took her to the vet that day. She got medicine for two ear infections. Then, we waited for ringworm results, which take weeks, and spent a lot of time bathing her in special shampoo.

The results came back negative. And through managing her diet we try to keep her skin allergies under control. She still gets mysterious rashes on her ears that flare up. Our next step is to take her back to the dermatologist and get her skin to clear up.

For the expensive vet bills we incurred taking care of Judy, the cattery credited us a kitten.

Sadly, just after one year of joyously raising a little boy, he ruptured internal organs and we had to put him down. Now, Judy is in need of a new friend.

Rehoming Judy is a non-option. Her care is world class, a better home for cats there is not. We would love to work with the specialist to get her skin condition figured out, pay down some of the recent emergency vet bills, and hope to find another friend to keep her company.

Thank you.
