Journal entry by Larry Hubbard

Judy's obituary will appear in the Wisconsin State Journal online edition (website: madison.com) on Thursday, October 28th.  We've kept it simple.

Judith Anne Ficken, 70, of Madison WI, died October 21st 2021 after a long struggle with early-onset dementia. Judy will be remembered for the joy, love, and beauty she brought to the lives of many. She is survived by her husband Larry (Hubbard) and her sister Janet (Ficken), and two daughters and their families: Elle Fisch (Aaron Fisch [Ruesch] and daughters Linnea and Nora Jude) and Anna Ficken (Francisco Aldana Galvez and daughter Sophia del Carmen). In lieu of a funeral, her celebration of life will be held at a future date to be announced.  Her family is grateful to the staff of Willow Point (Verona WI) and Heartland Hospice (Madison WI) for their compassionate care. Contributions can be made in Judy’s name  to the UW Arboretum so that others can continue to enjoy this beautiful place where she loved to be one with nature.

Contributions to the UW Arboretum in Judy's name will go towards a memorial bench, which is an amenity that Judy always appreciated on her trips to there.
