SHE IS HOME!
Today was a long day so just going to keep this update short with the highlights:
She had an A-fib (irregular heart rate) last night which stalled her discharge time from 10am to 4pm. All has sorted itself out. We got to see Dr. Bush again and it was very emotional saying goodbye and thanking him for what he has done for my Mom. I love that guy, he’s for sure on Santa’s nice list.
We learned a lot about her medications, when to take, why she’s taking, side effects, etc. and went over all of her many upcoming appointments. Overwhelming but informative and I am so proud of her for taking all of this on.
What matters most is that she’s at home, showered, all tape is off of her body, she’s in cozy pajamas and fuzzy socks, was fed a good meal, and is snuggling up to Pat on her sofa with a cup of tea and looking at her Christmas tree. She may be snacking on some Hershey kisses and peanut M&Ms too… but I guess that’s well deserved.
She will rest all weekend and enjoy being around the house without her big noisy oxygen machine and not tripping over her long nose tubes, and then back to Hopkins on Tuesday for x-rays, clinic, labs, etc.
We are all going to sleep good tonight. Phew.
