Judy’s Story

Site created on September 24, 2022

First off let me please ask and explain that we want NO visitors at this time. Mom has a lot of medical professionals coming and going through her room all day long along with sleeping and eating that we have created this site to keep her friends and family updated.

On the evening of September 16, 2022 our mother fell in her apartment in Rogers, MN. Our mom is a professional when it comes to falling down with out hurting herself. Fortunately Mom had someone there to take her to the emergency room in Monticello to be examined. Missy was able to talk to to Mom while she was in the ER and Mom was able to hold a normal conversation. Sometime between that phone call and Saturday morning Mom had a stroke. A blood clot is caught in the left side of her brain primarily  impacting her speech and the use of her right arm. She has been able to walk a little bit.
Missy and Todd got to Minnesota Saturday. Missy was able to see Mom during visiting hours and assess moms condition.
Mom is alert and aware.  She attempts to talk and the words don’t come out properly, leaving us to try and figure out what she is trying to tell us.  She gets frustrated but she keeps trying. She can’t write notes to help us.
Missy and I have been here everyday since Mom was admitted to the hospital.

Journal entry by Missy Buttrum

For those of you who haven't heard.... My mom passed Monday night around 11pm surrounded by me and many loved ones. My heart is full with those that stayed by my side tonight. She was a mom and grandma to everyone close to us. And was one of the most selfless people I knew. Over the last 10 years I really got to know so much about her and spent many times with her. This photo is from our cruise together. She loved sitting in this spot. Doing her puzzles. Looking at the ocean and having the grandkids join her here and there. As a child she was with me all the time. My rock. My everything. Watching soap operas and price is right. Letting me have a mental health day off of school. Lol. Poached eggs on toast. So many memories. I love you to the moon and back mom. Please watch over us. Until we meet again.
